America’s Progression

America has progressed.

Not in a positive way.

Not in a way of social love and equality.

Not in the way we should be progressing.

No, America has progressed in a way of apathy.

We have bombed the innocents,

And the majority of our country couldn’t care less.

They share the posts glorifying real life tragedies,

Mocking and laughing at people who, at their core,

Are no different than them.

America may be progressing in many ways,

But we need to progress in compassion.

We need to progress in kindness.

We need to progress beyond the point of war.

We need to progress towards diplomacy.

We need to progress towards unconditional love.

If this country does not make strides,

Especially in the areas that truly matter,

We will go down in history as a cruel,

Heartless, victim of tyranny and mob mentality.

And the vitality and persistent nature of this country

Deserves so much more than to fall to that fate.
